Silane-Modified Silicas
Prisma Rubber Additives’ new range of ‘Adsil’ silane-modified silica grades are designed to react with a wide variety of organic and inorganic materials. They are used as coupling agents, crosslinking agents, and surface modifiers which enable them to be used in a wide range of applications such as tires, adhesives and surface coatings.
Especially in Elastomer compounds, ‘Adsil’ grades can be used as reinforcing fillers in compound design and formulation. They are used in a wide range of polymers such as NR, IR, SBR, BR, NBR, EPDM, EPM and blends thereof.
An application of our ‘Adsil’ range
The grades in our portfolio:
Prisma Grade | Silica Surface Area | Silane | Silane Content (parts per hundred parts silica) |
Adsil 8113 | 180 m2/g | SI 69 | 13 |
Adsil 8113 Gr | 180 m2/g (granule) | SI 69 | 13 |
Adsil 6109 | 130 m2/g | SI 69 | 9 |
Adsil VP6508 | 130 m2/g | VTEO | 8 |
However, Prisma Rubber Additives also have the capabilities to provide bespoke formulations for specific requirements.
‘Silane Molecule’
The advantages of the ‘Adsil’ grades:
- Reaction in presence of accelerators by forming rubber to-filler bonds during vulcanization
- Achieving tear and abrasion resistance on a high level
- Excellent dynamic properties
- Shorter mixing cycles and less processing effort than using conventional silica
- Less mechanical degradation of polymers.
